Oklahoma's SCBWI hosted their fall conference last Saturday in Chandler, Oklahoma. It was one of the best we've had--and I've been attending these for the last seven years. Anna Myers and Pati Hailey did an outstanding job planning and hosting the group. We heard tips from Sonia Gensler on how to research and acquire an agent. Pati Hailey led us in a writer's visualization that helped us visualize a scene from our works in progress. The afternoon consisted of a writer's intensive, where we were divided into groups led by successful authors in the genre we were interested in writing. Point of view, dialogue, and voice were the three topics in the group led by Anna Myers. The information was reinforced by opportunities to write what we learned. Outstanding.
Once again I say, "Carve out the time and dig deep for the registration fee." Everyone needs a booster shot ever once in a while.
