Refined by Fire

Quote from a recent fortune cookie: "Discipline is the refining fire by which talent becomes ability." I get discouraged that becoming a published children's author has been such a long process. However, in looking back over the years of discipline in my writing, I know I have needed to be "refined by fire". I am grateful to many critique partners, writer friends, and editors/agents who gave it to me straight. Even though, at the time, it felt like having my gums scraped. :-) Five years ago, my writing was not ready--it's ready now, in my humble opinion. Now to find an editor or agent who agrees with me. May 2013 be the year.
