How Does Common Core Affect Children's Authors?

I am preparing a presentation encouraging children's writers to become familiar with the Common Core Objectives. Common Core is a set of teaching objectives that will become used in full in the 2014/2015 school year in 46 of the 50 states. The plan is for teaching objectives to be common from state-to-state for a more consistent education of children who attend multiple schools in their public education years.
Language arts teachers are encouraged to base their teaching mainly on literature, both fiction and non-fiction--anchor passages from various novels, picture books, magazines, newspapers, and of course non-fiction. Other core subjects are also encouraged to include literature in their classrooms to supplement their teaching of math, science, art, music, social studies, etc. Students will be writing in various forms in every class.
All of this is good news for writers of children's books. Continue following this site for more extensive information in a future post.
